Another "Shipping" Question

Someone recently asked the "how do I/how much does it cost to/who should
I use to ship my car" question; I've got one of another sort, which is
only slightly off-topic (but for a worthy Alfa cause).

I'm trying to figure out how to get a Zender body kit for my spider from
Australia to my home in L.A.

I started with the usual carriers: UPS, FedEx, etc., none of whom would
touch my package because of it's size; it's about 7 feet long by 3 feet
high by a foot-and-a-half wide (though not especially heavy).

I've tried some freight forwarders, but so far haven't had much luck.
They tend to be either *very* expensive or unresponsive to my quote
inquiries.

Anybody out there have experience with this kind of thing?  Anybody know
anything about getting the package through customs?
