I've not tried this myself, but I do recall the DiFatta Bros. race car at the Atlanta convention was just such a beast.  Of course, it was blessed with a turbo and other sundry go-fast goodies.

I don't recall the motivations (I think it might have been to take advantage of the 6's stiffer chassis) but they could probably steer you in the right direction regarding motormounts, etc.
