finishing a steering wheel

Thanks to everyone who had suggestions for finishing a steering wheel
from a 1970 GTV.
It's finished and gorgeous:
Summary:
- -used a combination of epoxy and carpenters glue to fix cracks and
chips. Multiple wood clamps were used.
- -wheel was finely sanded
- -no stain was used except for the areas where the epoxy was used. A
stain was used (small modelling paint brush) to match up the colors
between the natural mahogany and the epoxy/carpenters glue
- -a Minwax Poly Uerathane was used. 6 coats wiped on with a cheese
cloth with a very light buffing between each coat.

Couldn't be happier.

On a humourous topic. My Pokemon crazed 6 year old son might have
found a name for the Alfa.
"Dad, it should be called 'Rapidash' in the summer and 'Snorlax' in
the winter when it's in the garage" :-)

It's got a ring......
