Re: The Last Hurrah/ ES 30 - dream or nightmare Alfa

Hello everybody,

Thanks to John H. and Ralph D. for pointing out (in AD # 1313) that the=

ES30 wasn't a Zagato design, but an in-house Alfa design built by Zagat=
o.
I stand corrected! I'll try to check my facts better before posting in=
 the
future.

It must have been the "Z" in the "SZ" designation that fooled me. I ha=
d
always thought that it stood for "Zagato". Anybody know whether they
carried any Zagato badges in addition to Alfa badges? And if the "Z"
didn't stand for "Zagato", what did it actually stand for?

This reminds me of the story behind the Volvo 262 Coup=E9 (a grossly mi=
s-
proportioned 240/260-series based coup=E9 that Volvo brought out in the=

late seventies). It was built by Bertone (and even carried a Bertone
badge), but styled by Volvo. It's often refered to as the "Bertone cou=
p=E9"),
but if you've ever seen one, you'll understand why Bertone wanted no
responsibility for the design. It managed to look even more tank-like
than the sedan it was based on.
