Sometimes, break-in simply doesn't happen if you use synthetic oils 
immediatly. This is more likely on engines overhauled at home rather than 
built with new parts at the factory due to the precision manufacturing 
techniques now possible. 

In the case of a cylinder head, there's little to be gained with running 
a break-in oil. The most significant part of break-in for an engine is 
for pistons/cylinders. Break-in for the cylinder head and cam followers 
is pretty much a non-issue.
