Dick Kreines has asked me to post the following "press release" on behalf of
the Alfa Romeo LSR team. (Personally, I think 'cabin fever' has claimed
another victim, but hey, you gotta love the guy!)

"BONNIE" WILL COMPETE AT BONNEVILLE 2000 WITH TEAMMATE "BONETTA"
On the heels of a record breaking debut during the 1999 Bonneville
National SpeedWeek at the Salt Flats in Wendover, UT, the 1991 Alfa Romeo
Spider ("Bonnie") is being readied for competition in the new millennium.
Major modifications include improved aerodynamics, reduced weight and
increased horsepower.
A new entry will join the Spider this year, a 1979 Alfetta, dubbed
"Bonetta," and will compete in various coupe classes. Bonetta is currently
being modified with a roll cage and sleek aerodynamic improvements including
a reshaped nose and full belly pan. Innovative gearing is being devised to
provide a wider range of gear ratio options.
Both cars will share four (4) race motors: supercharged 1479cc
(de-stroked 1600), supercharged 2.0 litre, normally aspirated 1479cc, and
normally aspirated 2.0 litre. The chip-regulated fuel injection system,
which provided so much frustration to the team during last year's efforts,
has been replaced by a fully programmable system allowing for onsite lap top
tuning. Likewise, the roots-type blower has been scrapped and replaced with
a more efficient centrifugal-type supercharger. The n/a 2.0 litre will also
feature a twin spark head. Different combinations of car and motor (with
other modifications per SCTA Rules) will allow the team to compete in as many
as twelve (12) different classes....... time permitting.
The two cars are being developed and built by Besic Motorsports in Glen
Ellyn, IL, along with major support from the Alfa Annual and technical
assistance from several engineers and specialists. Alfa Romeo aficionados
around the world have shown great support and interest in this project and
the team will continue in its efforts to place Alfa Romeo back in the World
Land Speed Record Books. Sponsorships are being offered to commercial and
other interested parties who would like to become part of the team.
Information packets will soon be available -- please FAX written requests to
Alfa Annual, FAX# (312) 782-1331. Sponsors' logos will be prominently
displayed on the cars.
Bonneville Nationals Speed Week will be held August 12th - 18th, 2000 at
the Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah. We hope to see you there!

Additional updates will be posted as they becomes available.
