oil pump failure?

Hi,
Posted this a while back, but didn't hear anything, so I'm hoping someone
will bite on this try:
It seems that my oil pump has recently been taking a couple of extra
(critical) seconds to build up pressure so the light goes off and the gauge
shows 57 psi. The car maintains steady pressure when I'm driving, and the
oil and filter have just recently been changed. What are the signs of a
failing oil pump?
