164S With New O2 Sensor Passes CA Smog Test

I want to thank all the Digesters who responded to the problem concerning my
164S failing CA smog. After replacing the one-year old generic O2 sensor
with an OEM Alfa part, and running the car "hot" at around 220F for a day, I
retested today near the low end of the "passing" levels. Seems the cat was
still alive after it burned off the remains of the ultra-rich mixture the
car had been serving up.

I also cleared up a new stumbling problem that started last week. I
remembered reading about the contacts for the coolant temp. sensor
corroding, causing this trouble. A little DeOxit, and the engine's smooth
again. Thanks again for all the valuable help.
