Erostratus,

The thermostat on the 164s is part of the housing.  Just undo the hose and
the three 10mm bolts and pop it off.  Move the brass 14mm air release valve
(is that what it is?) from the old tstat to the new one.  With any luck a
previous mechanic won't have used gasket sealer on the water pump side of
the thermostat so you won't have to spend 1/2 hour cleaning up the water
pump mating surface!   I just did this to two cars this weekend and am
happy to report that both cars now produce actual heat!  I knew the heat in
164s should be as good as the Milano.
