Returning cars to Europe

I've read much of the discussion about shipping a car from Europe to the US, anyone have experience doing the reverse? I may be going to Germany with my company for a few years and was wondering about the import requirements for Germany (specifications, taxes, etc.)  Is there one EU standard, or is country by country?  I have a '74 GTV and a 2000 Volvo wagon.  If I can only take one, it will probably be the wagon.  (Ever try to get two dogs and a baby in the back of a GTV?  I have and it isn't pretty...)

I seem to remember someone saying the only requirements were that the glass have some indication it meets the standard.  (What is that marker, a circle E?)  The other was something about being able to adjust the headlights (?).  Can someone point me to a web site with the requirements?  Any help appreciated.  G.
