16V 164?

Michael Murphy asks " Does anyone know if the 164 tspark ever got the later 
twin spark engine, as fitted to the GTV...?  I assumed it did, but I've been 
told otherwise recently."

D'Amico & Tabucchi list a 2.0i 16V Twin Spark motore tipo 16201 1970 cc, 83 x 
91 alesaggio e corsa for the GTV and Spider, and three types of eight-valve 
2.0i engines (tipi 06416, 06420, 64103), 1962 cc, alesaggio e corsa 84 x 88.5 
mm for the 164. If the 164 got the 16 valve engine (assuming d'A&T are 
correct, which is probable but never certain) it would have been after 1996, 
when the GTV and Spider had been in production for two years. Seems doubtful 
to me.
