Re: Oil Filters



As the saying goes with us parts guys, "you can't go wrong with original
equipment."  However, if that seems unavailable in your area or simply
too much hassle, I have a suggestion.

While working at a couple of Volvo dealers, I became partial to the oil
filter for their gas engine cars.  It has all the requisites:
check(pressure relief) valve, anti-drainback valve, LOTS of filter
surface area.  Compare the weight of one of these filters to a Fram or
other run-of-the-mill filter and I think you'll get the idea.  It fits
my 116GT very nicely, should fit most(all?) 4 cylinder cars.  I'm not
sure about fitment for V6.

The latest part number I remember is 3517857, although I'm pretty sure
it has changed by now(6514862?...memory's a bit fuzzy).
