Foncool Joe and Duggie should be in Shepardstown

Well, maybe if the Syrians and Israelis finish up a day or two early
and Bill could stop unpacking moving boxes, foncool Joe and Doug
could make use of the Shepardstown facilities for mediation of what
has become a super heated issue.

Besides that, there is an inevitable degree of racism inherent
amgonst the perhaps previous Italian marques. And why shouldn't there
be, with Fiat and Alfa racing each other 80 years ago, then almost
all the players coming back in the 50s, Alfa, Maser, Ferrari, Lancia,
all racing and trying to boost their prestige. We certainly accept
the great divisions NASCAR promotes so well with Chevy, Ford,
Mopar. So, in the end, some people aren't going to feel too
comfortable experiencing the differences in Italian car culture.

Three years ago, the first Italian car tour was held in the DC area,
with the local Ferrari club responsible for route design, restaurant,
social activites, they did a first class job, probably the best of
any of the succeeding events. I think virtually all Italian makes
were present that day in the fifty car field. Still, during the
*drivers meeting* a Ferrari guy proposed a rule that no Alfas would
pass any Ferraris. Half in jest, half serious. So, I felt a
certain motivation to pass a number of F cars with the Milano Verde.
At the end of the day, everything remained the same, I had a great
time yet the distances or rather differences were maintained.

For me, the best East Coast event is still the local Alfa club
track day at Lime Rock, in May. Maybe, if foncool Joe attends this
event and does some canvassing of participants there, his event in
the Poconos can get off to a better start.

Ciao, Jay
