Post 82 Dashboard

I am planning to replace the Dashboard in my 74 spider.  It appears I have
two options get a restored one for $450+core from Just Dashes or use an
early 80's one if I can fine a nice one.  My understanding is that the
difference is that the early 80's are identical except for the Dash outlets
which are bigger.  Has anyone out there been able to fit the smaller 74
outlet fixtures in the later dash?  I want to keep the car as orginal.
