Bolt size and pitch question

There should be studs that hold the bell housing onto the engine with two
bolts at the top. The studs are 8 mm x 1.25 thread pitch where they go into
the engine block. The other end of the stud which receives a nut is 8 mm x
1.0 thread pitch. If the studs have been replaced with bolts they should be
8 mm x 1.25 thread pitch. There are locator pins on the block which fit into
the bellhousing so there is little threat of the bolts breaking (shearing)
and the engine dropping even if cheap bolts were used - use the best you can
find.
