Re: alfa-digest V7 #1171

Scott Fisher asked about TZ versus GTA original Steering wheels and I hope I
can help with this. We have been finding and restoring old, original
Hellebore wheels for both of these models for a couple of years. We've found
that both of the models use the same exact steering wheel, detail for detail.
The parts #'s in the two books are indeed different however causing me to
wonder what exact difference was there. Only the prefix of the number changed
for the model, the rest of the #'s are the same. We've placed three wheels in
the U.S. in the last two years, two going to TZ owners and one to a GTA
owner. All said the furnished wheels were exactly like the ones they had
which were then in terrible shape. All of the wheels were the same. I looked
in the TZ parts manual and the one they show has 4 holes in each spoke, just
like the GTA. The GTA book does show an "alternative" steering wheel
available though offers no additional information. I'd hazard a slightly
educated guess that Scott has one of the alternative which were probably
smaller in diameter and couldn't support 4 holes so had 3 in each spoke. Hope
this helps!
Matt @ Re-Originals O.E.M......all over again!
