colors

In AD7-1189 Ted Williams asks about paint colors appropriate to his father's
'67 GTV. Ted and Ma like green, Dad likes red, the car is silver and was
white - -

The Alfa Body Shop Manual (pub.#1570, 9/70) lists Alfa paint colors,
presumably standards of then-recent past and forseeable future; (names in
parentheses are some used by paint suppliers or on ARI chip charts for US
cars.)
AR-008 Bianco P.F.- Farina White (also China white, Porcelain)
AR-013 Biancospino - White (also Chalk)
AR-103 Avorio P.F. - Ivory
AR-109 Giallo ocra - Ochre (also Autumn Gold)
AR-112 Ocra Scuro - dark ochre (also Caramel)
AR-113 Giallo - yellow (also Sunflower Yellow)
AR-114 Biondo Champaigne - Champaign blonde
AR-209 Verde Muschio - dark green
AR-213 Verde Oliva Metallica - Olive Green Metallic
AR-216 Verde pino - Pine green
AR-217 Verde Vivo P.F. - Green
AR-301 Celeste P.F. - light blue
AR-323 Bleu P.F. - Farina Blue (also Skipper Blue)
AR-324 Blu Cobalto Medio - medium blue
AR-327 Bluette - Petrol Blue
AR-330 Azzuro Spazio- space blue
AR-342 Blu Francia - French Blue
AR-343 Blu Olandese- Dutch blue (also Navy Blue)
AR-501 Rosso Alfa - Alfa red
AR-509 Rosso Amaranto- amaranth (also called Plum)
AR-514 Rosso Italia P.F. - Farina Red (also called Signal Red
AR-516 Faggio - Dark Maroon (also Ambassador Maroon, Aubergine)
AR-537 Blu Chiaro Met. - light blue metallic
AR-701 Acqua di fonte - Springwater
AR-716 Grigio grafite - Graphite Grey
AR-724 Grigio Beige- Beige
AR-727 Grigio Chiaro Met. - Light grey Met.
AR-728 Grigio Medio met. - Medium grey Met.
AR-735 Grigio Indaco - Grey
AR-736 Antracite Inglese- English Graphite
AR-818 Bruno Fondo - Maroon
AR-821 Beige Cava - Beige
AR-901 Nero - black

By 1972 a few more colors had been added: USA chip charts showed
AR 525 Raspberry (on GTV only)
AR 227 Moss Green (on Berlina and GTV)
AR 827 Champagne Metallic(on Berlina and GTV)
AR 119 Canary yellow (Spider only)
AR 219 Racing Green (Spider only)
AR 510 Carmen Red (Spider only)

Note that the colors with a P.F. suffix were Pininfarina colors used on
Spiders but rarely extended to the cars built by Alfa at Arese; the 103 Ivory
is the one big exception, popular on Alfetta coupes and sedans.

DAmico & Tabucchi give color names, but not numbers, by years for each model
and are presumably, but not necessarily, accurate; for the Sprint GT Veloce
1966-68 they give names which correspond to 013, 109, 209, 213, 216, 324,
327, 330, 501, 537, 716, 727, and 728 on the above list.

Best place I know to find the colors by numbers and names is your local
Sikkens dealer, who may be in the phone book as Akzo Nobel Coatings, but
Glasurit, PPG, and Ditzler would be options.

Hope this helps,
