Re: Painful eye chemicals.

What? No votes for battery acid? =:0 You'd be amazed how much torture
you can do to yourself with battery acid. One time, I managed to tip
over a battery in the trunk of my Giulietta Spider. While cleaning it
up, I accidentally got a sliver of Chrome plating under one fingernail
that had previously been dipped in the battery acid. Yikes! That one
still gives me shivers.

Even though it's what Murine used to be based on, the concentrated
Muriatic acid used in soldering radiators can be pretty painful, too.

Among chili pepper aficionados, the Habanero is regarded as the most
powerful. A splash of Habanero salsa in the eye will keep you hopping
for hours.

Back in the "good old days" in the semiconductor industry, we did a
lot of wet etching. We had pots of Phosphoric acid, Aqua Regia (a mix
of Nitric and Hydrochoric), a heated mix of Sulfuric acid and Hydrogen
Peroxide (AKA "Pirhana" etch), and the ever-popular Hydrofluoric acid.
The HF was nasty, because it didn't hurt. It would either destroy your
eyes, or dissolve your bones. By the time you felt it, the damage was
done. Knowing the way to the nearest eye-wash fountain or emergency
shower was essential. Industrial safety was a serious concern.
