164 Suspension problems
I have recently spent a lot of money on the suspension of my 164 TS. The
rear trailing arm bushes, front A arm bushes, strut bearings and bushes, new
steering rack, anti-roll bar links and a whole host of other smaller items
have been replaced. The only things that were not replaced were the front
(60,000 miles old) and rear (40,000 miles old) shoxs, although there is no
bounce to indicate extreme wear. I had a basic four wheel alignment carried
out and everything was within tolerance.
The problem is the car feels unbalanced at speed (i.e. 80mph or over) or when
cornering. When cornering in the wet, the front end feels like it is
skipping at relatively low speeds.
I recently drove another 164 TS, it felt much more fluid and controlled
compared to mine.
I am reluctant to throw more money at the problem, but if I DID need new shox
or a full blown four wheel alignment I would pay. Could it be anything else?
