Re:Ford driving Alfas

Eric's comments got me thinking. I spend alot of my time analyzing consumer
demographics. Based on some recent research, I've estimated that the
current Alfa Romeo population in the U.S. is probably about .03% of the
total vehicle population, while the Ford population is probably around 15%.
Given that the # of registered cars in the U.S. is about 125,000, I'd
estimate that there are around 35,000 Alfas running around the U.S.

To give some other comparisions, my data suggests that the number of Alfas
in the US is probably similar in size to the number of Ferraris, or about
1/5 the number of "niche" manufacturers such as Saab(~1%), Jaguar (~1%) or
Volvo (~1%). However, given the variance in vehicle use, value and
longevity between the five marques, it's somewhat difficult to estimate.
