Alt/Revometer/Fan Update

Today Wisconsin was in the sunbelt and I took some time to try and track
down the fan problem. I'm stumped, but here's some details for the analysts
out there.

When first starting engine, the alternator light is off and tach is dead. If
I rev up the engine, the tach will pop on to correct revs and the alternator
light will brighten then slowly fade to dim (but not go all the way off). If
heater fan switch is turned on (the motor does not work though the fan light
is on), the alt light goes bright and tach stops working. Turning off the
heater fan and revving the engine causes the tach to start working and the
alt light to dim.

Measuring the voltage at the battery terminals during all this shows the
following:

12.25 volts for case where engine running, but tach not working and alt
light off.
13.75 volts for case where engine running, tach working and alt light dim.
12.75 volts for case where engine and ignition off.

I took apart the fuse box and jumpers, cleaned and sprayed with electronic
contact cleaner, but it made no difference.

Have I been "Lucased"? (those of you with BL cars know what I mean.)

P.S. This all started last weekend when my wife asked me to turn on the
heater. Everything was fine before that.
