33 help - thanks.

I believe Godfrey reposted a request I had sent to him on buying a used
33 to this list. So to all those who sent me replies, I thank you as it
was very informative and helped me in checking out the car in question.

So now I have a 4 wheeled Italian to join a two wheeled bretheren in the
garage (Ducati Darmah), so I guess my MLI (moto-lust-italiano)
affliction has become terminal.
It is a silver 1987 unleaded, 1.5, twin carbed, Gold cloverleafed Boxer
4C, with wood steering wheel and gear shift knob, air, power windows,
factory mags (fitted with Pirelli's) and Konis.
The interior was pretty much spotless (although the dealer is replacing
the slightly wonky binnacle), no rust but a fair few blemishes to the
paint work (stone chips and such). The engine was strong and the second
gear synchro was flawless. The speedo stopped working 2 years ago at
95000kms so has more than likely done 130,000kms. The dealer is also
shifting the clutch and brake pedals a little to the left to help
accomodate my large feet, so no footrest for me but I couldn't fit my
feet past the clutch anyway. My second braking incident was a little
hairy while getting used to the pedal set-up (brake - oops no that is
the accelerator!!!)

Just a couple of questions for starters:
Do 33's have self-negating indicator returns?
Has anyone chopped the gear shift lever to move the gear knob closer to
the floor? ie. how hard is the material to cut and rethread?

So once again thanks to those who responded. There will be plenty more
questions to follow.

Cheers,
Damian Adams
(South Australia - unfortunately still under the Queens rule as a head
of state).

P.S. Italian lesson needed. Quadrofoglio = 4 what???
