tie-breaker may have not been necessary!

Regarding the thread about Mika and Eddie and how does F1 break point ties,
ponder this....

Early in the season before Michael broke his leg (sorry I forget which race,
it could be looked up) Eddie, according to his contract, pulled over to allow
Michael to pass for a position which gained Michael a single extra point (and
therfore reducing Eddie's amount by one). It was something like Eddie had
been in 4th and Michael was 5th, so after they "swapped" positions Eddie
scored 2 points for 5th place instead of 3 points for 4th place he had been
in.

Now... if that "swap" had not occurred, then in Japan Michael could have
pulled over and allowed Eddie by to place second and the result would have
been instead of a points tie (and Mika winning on the tie-breaker) Eddie
would have won the F1 Championship by a single point! But, who was to know
way back then?
