Greetings Alfisti!
Yesterday I FINALLY got the new shocks and springs under Lazarus, my
most patient 1979 Alfetta Velocissima coupe.(Which after sitting dormant for
2 months cranked up at the first turn of the key. What a car!)A friend had air
tools and a compressor and it took almost no time at all to complete this.I
put a set of Koni reds under the rear of the car, and replaced the badly
sagging rear stock springs with a set from a GTV6.The car sets straight now
and doesn't go down the road like it's about to roll over and play
dead.Removing the nuts from the top of the shocks ranks number 1 on my most
hated things to do;I removed the nuts without removing the gas tank for
better clearance.
My list of things to do to this car is shortening, the big things are
pretty much out of the way.I did discover that the right arm of the Watts
linkage on the car is bent slightly.Looked like someone tried to jack up the
car on the linkage, and bent it. Does anyone know if the Watts linkage on
the Alfetta is the same size/diametre as the one on the Milano, and are the
parts interchangeable? In any event;I need to see if anyone out in Alfa land
has one for sale........Please Email me off digest.
Also, I need to see if anyone has a set of turn signal lenses for a
Milano for sale.A friend borrowed my Alfie (87 Milano Gold,135k miles) and
one of the lenses fell off while he was enjoying it. Did they come in amber
as well as clear?
Finally, does anyone know how to replace the trunk lid release cable on
a Milano?Mine finally snapped,and I couldn't find the replacement procedure
in the factory manual. The emergency pull string doesn't thrill me;it reminds
me of the pullstring on a See N Say toy.I figure it's only a matter of time
before it snaps.
Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!
