Hi,
It is easy to check the altenator:
Only thing needed is a so called Multimeter (or any other voltage meter
which can read 14 - 15 volt).
1 Start engine and rev it once or twice to about 4500 rpm
2 Check voltage over battery terminals while engine is at idle with NO
lights, heater or whatever. The reading should be something between 13 and
15 volts
3 Turn the Mainlights on (engine stil at idle) and the reading over your
battery terminals should not drop (compared to above) with more than 0,5
to 1 volt (wm. 12 to 14 volt).
If the reading drops to 11 or lower the charging system is faulty
(altenator or regulator).
Saluti,
Thom Fransen
