73 Spider FS-Seattle

73 Spider for sale in the Seattle area.

I have had the car since 1987. I have driven it a total of about 18,000
miles. I have probably spent about $7000.00 in that time trying to
restore it. Highlights include a a valve job, new top, radiator
re-core, master cyl, and a water pump. I am sure I am forgetting a
lot. I have most of the receipts, including $2,764.17 to Alfa Only in
Glendale CA on 9/24/91 with 80,710 showing on the odometer. The rest
are to Ray and Dave at British/Italian. (I highly recommend them
206-325-7233)

The odometer now shows 95,609. I am sure it has spun a least once.

It has Webers and it ALWAYS passes smog with plenty of room, including
just last June.

I just installed new springs from IAP. Front has maybe 30 miles on them,
the rear ones have not left the garage.

I stripped the steering wheel. It is sanded and ready to refinish.

Extra Water Pump (or $60,00 if you just want to buy it. It has never
been used)

Ignition kill switch in the glove box.
Red Konis
Wood Shift Knob
Oil Pan Protector
Red sweater worn 2x (if you want it)

What is wrong with it?

Rusting floorboards, rocker panels and wheel well. Not terribly bad,
but in need of some work. The interior wheel arches are rust-free.

Needs a clutch, but you can still drive it to see how it runs.

Paint stripped down a few layers. Will need a paint job before you take
it outside. I did the bodywork myself, and I can't tell where most of
the repairs are. There was no crash damage, just the little dings you
get due to the lack of protective trim and the scalloped bodywork.

All the trim pieces are off the car, but I stll have them. The
doors/hood/trunk lid need to be re-hung because I put them back on in a
hurry.

The interior is unrestored.

The roll bar has no attaching hardware and needs a cover or to be
re-finished.

Leaks oil in a few places. Exhaust too, but I think I did not get the
gaskets sealed when I replaced the exhaust system.

Fuel tank has a small hole in the top that will cause vapors to be
vented into the trunk. My mechanic says it is not bad enough to be
dangerous, but you would want to get it patched.

Finally, I owe the bank a small amount of money on it so I don't even
have a clear title. You would just have to meet me at the bank in order
to pay them the remainder of the loan and have them give you the title.

Lots of other little things, of course.

I would rather sell this car to somebody who will take care of it. If I
can't sell it, I will have to start parting it out, which would be a
shame. I need to get it out of the garage.

I can e-mail pictures of it in about a week. E-mail me if you have any
interest. I am not looking to get back any of the money I invested in
it. Just enough to cover what I owe the bank and maybe a little extra.

Oh, and we have an 88 MB 300E with 135,000 that we would let go for
around $8500,00. It looks and drives great.
