gtv6 lives!

well, the gtv6 is finally alive and running again. some may remember my
post a while back regarding l-jet troubleshooting, others may remember a
more recent post regarding ignition switches.

thanks to those who responded on the l-jet, especially eric, and to mike,
jorge, and charlie for their advice on the ignition switch. it turns out
that the problem was with the ignition switch. replacement was a pita, to
say the least. the po (note - not the dpo) had installed a mechanical oil
pressure gauge next to the steering column which complicated removal of the
hardware that allows you to drop the column.

wrt removal of the ignition switch, it turns out that if i wasn't such a
cheap b*stard it would have been a breeze - the ignition switch had been
replaced at some point in time and was held in place with a screw. my
problems were in getting the ignition switch out of a parts car (call me
cheap for taking something i already had out of a parts car instead of
buying new). for that, the hammer and small chisel worked fine to loosen
the break-off nut.

the silly part of the job involves snaking the wires into the steering
column, particularly when you consider that the connector at the end of the
three main wires won't even fit through the hole - you have to remove the
wires from the connector, snake the wires through, then plug them back into
the connector!

the car fired right up, nice to hear it running after sitting for so long.

thanks again all,

bs
