Fangio question....

Ok, race historians, I need some info.

A few years ago, I was reading the account of a classic race - but now, I can't recall the event.

What I do recall is that there was a massive crash in this race, and several other drivers were caught up in it, but Fangio managed to squeak through.  The article I was reading quoted someone in the pits who said, essentially, that he saw a fireball and smoke, and then saw Fangio emerging from the melee, at which point he thought something like "Fangio must not fear anything."  
I'd like to find that exact quote to add to a nice framed picture of The Maestro, but my addled mind can't even recall what race it occured at, let alone what magazine it was in.  Help!  Knowing the race would at least let me start the search...
