Road Trip 2

I won't bore anyone with details of my latest motorcycle road trip. Suffice
to say that Mount Lassen and Modoc County (CA) are spectacular in July (or
any month for that matter). The Guzzi freight train ran well and handled
better than its 510 lb wet weight would indicate.

95 164LS 5-speed (bought used)
97 Sport 1100i (bought new because Guzzi never abandoned the US market and
warranties their bikes for 3 years/unlimited miles -- unheard of in the
motorcycle industry)

PS -- yes, I'm cheap. But if Alfa re-established themselves in the US I
would find a way to buy a 156. Doesn't Fiat/Alfa management realize that
the European share of car imports in the US is growing?

Another digest reader pointed out that many buyers of A4s or M series BMWs
would seriously consider a 156 or 166. Listen. The Italian motorcycle
industry was belly-up 15 years ago. Now we have Ducati and Moto Guzzi firmly
entrenched in the market. Laverda is back. Aprilia and MV Agusta will be
here soon. And Benelli is developing a new 3-cylinder superbike. I'd say the
boys at Fiat/Alfa need to lighten up.
