155 Widebody Brakes

Hi all

Just a hint for anyone replaceing the brakes on a 155 2.0 16V Widebody.
I've had loads of problems for the last few weeks trying to obtain the
correct disks and pads for the front of this car, without paying Alfa UK
prices. The problem is that none of the catalogues in my local motor
factors list the widebody as a seperate car, so at a first pass, you get
both disks and pads which are too small. Logically, the V6 brakes would be
the right choice, but no, thats too easy! The correct pads are those listed
by Mintex for the 155 V6 non-injected (did they make a carb'ed 155?), but
the disks are only close. A visual inspection suggests they are right, and
only on fitting does it become apparent that the offset is out by 5mm.
So, to cut a long and oily tale short, the correct parts are :-

Pads MINTEX MDB 1518	(The wear indicator needs to have the connector
swapped - but they never work anyway!)

Disks AP Lockheed BG2617	(Lockheed list them for Fiat and Lancia, but not
for Alfa)

My car is a 95 N Reg, probably one of the earliest 16V ones built.

Hope this helps someone else, because it caused me a lot of hassle for the
last few weeks.
Many thanks to the hardworking guys at Camberley Auto Factors for tracking
down the bits, at half Alfa list price.
No connection, just happy to recommend someone doing a good job.
