Why an Alfa?

You know, we all read these threads on "why this" and "why
that"..."what oil", etc, well I was tossing a new one around tonight as
I was giving Sofia her evening exercise while running errands...(redline
is such a special place...) RiceBoys beware... Why do we like
Alfas?

...I was talking to a customer with a pristine 164 L this afternoon,
and impressed by his resolution to keep the car even after his annual to
date expense of over $6500 in maintenance/repairs, and thinking to
myself, "Why do I love this car so much"?

As I was winding the gears around and listening to Monica Ramos do her
best to the harp on the CD (Who?) I again realized that I have never
regretted buying this 164 Base, (now 168 TS by label). Although not the
normal Alfa owner, having run her hard and long, (99,000 miles so far,
34 US states to date), and having had my share of repair work needed,
I'd still buy another in a minute. (Right Sharon?) Eek! The freaky brake
lights on the dash, voltmeter that has had a "pulse" for as long as I
can remember... and the gutteral scream from under the hood as the old
girl winds out of a Pacific Coast Highway curve all suggest that this
car is possessed, by a friendly soul.

So my question to all of you Alfa nuts, is twofold, 1) Why did you buy
it, and 2) why do you keep your Alfa?
