Leather/trim adhesive?

The driver's seat in my Spider has a tear that's getting larger.

Although the Spider is a '74, the seats and dash are from an '82-'86
donor car (swapped in by the previous owner) -- they have leather
seating surfaces plus the guide for the shoulder belt which was also
added by the P.O.

Apart from this tear (it's three sides of a square about 1" on a side),
the seats are in very good condition. I'd like to get another year or
so out of them before putting in new leather (actually, I'd like to put
that money towards getting a new engine for the '67, but don't tell my
Spider, she gets jealous :-).

Is there a recommended trim adhesive that is good to use on leather, and
that will hold up to the flexing and strain of a driver's seat? My
primary goal is to keep the tear from getting worse (it's already gotten
worse since I bought the car three months ago), so I'm thinking of just
gluing down a patch somewhat larger than the torn area. I'm aware it
won't be an invisible repair, I want to halt the damage and cover up the
yellow foam that's peeping through the black upholstery. And I'd like
to use something a bit more aesthetically pleasing than black racer's
tape... :-)

I've used 3M brand trim adhesive when installing convertible tops and
weatherstripping; if I don't get any advice to the contrary, that's
probably what I'll use.

And on a related topic... has anyone bought either the domestic or
German leather upholstery kits from IAP, again for the seats in the '82
- - '86 Spider? I'd be interested in hearing your opinions on the leather
quality, the ease of installation, and on whether the German leather is
worth the (significant) extra money.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
