Exhaust Notes

My '86 Spider has gone thru several changes of the exhaust from the
cat. conv. on back. I drive this car all year 'round; sun, rain, sleet,
snow, hurricane, blizzard. I replaced the OE system with two pieces
from IAP; non-ANSA center and a ANSA rear just after I got the car in
'88.  The center section likes to be replaced every two years or so;
rust thru which is due to the high heat from the cat. conv. The rear
section lasted for many years until someone rear ended me at a stop
sign; a new ANSA unit replaced it.

Got tired of replacing the center piece and got a stainless steel unit
from Stebro when the it rusted thru 2 years ago. Yep, costs more than
OE or IAP but I'll never have to fool with it again. And they give you
SS nuts/bolts/washers for the flanges - no more rusting together due to
the heat!

Some months ago, another observant person hit my car from behind in a
parking lot when it was parked. The ANSA rear was bent and I just
replaced it with the Stebro rear section. The SS nuts/bolts at the
center/rear flange were in like-new conditon; loosen the nuts with a
socket and spin off the nuts by hand. This last ANSA unit lasted about
5 years and when I took it out, there were pinholes in the pipe from the
center section along with cracks at the flange to the center section.
Pretty sure that these where caused by the parking lot hit 'n run character.
