Intractable overheating problems

Several people have posted questions about V6s that overheat, even with 
proper thermostats, rodded-out radiators and full-time fans. Hans Milo told 
me of one such which he had which wasn't cured until, standing in front of 
the car, he noticed the warm breeze on his legs. The fan, wired backwards, 
(not by him!) was blowing hot engine-room air through the radiator. In motion 
it would have been bucking the normal air flow. It probably doesn't happen 
often, but it is one more thing to check before crushing the car.
