It helps to fill your bathtub or a bucket with warm water and put the
bottles of gear oil in there for a while.  This will heat the oil a bit
making it thinner thus easier to pump.  I found out the hard way when I did
this to a transaxle car in the middle of winter with no lift.  I asked the
dealer how it would be easier next time and they told me what I'm suggesting
now.
