re: hot Milano

re: overheating Milano

Sir,

I would not think that your symptoms are cause for
alarm. Whenever i take a drive to Alice's on a hot
afternoon (in the GTV6), my temp is usually in the 180
region and the oil pressure quite low. You have
something to worry about if the needle does not budge
once you rev the engine, but I think you are OK
otherwise. Then again, the oil pressure sending unit
went bad in two of the Alfas I have, but it was a
rather obvious failure (always at zero). The oil will
get thinner the hotter it is, but there is no cause
and effect there (overheating), in my opinion.
Make sure your electric fan comes on ok. I recently
discovered that only one of my fans comes on after
180, the other starts spinning only after I turn on
the AC compressor.
Other than that, you have the standard thermostat,
temp sender, bubles in the system, clogged radiator
stuff to check.
