Well, at the time that the SPICA system was devised (1968 or so), Ferrari 
was an independent company as was Alfa Romeo. Ferrari became a part of 
FIAT a few years after that, although they'd had a relationship for some 
years already. Alfa Romeo wasn't subsumed into FIAT for another decade or 
so.

Mercedes used a similar mechanical injection on some cars, so did BMW 
(2002tii).
