Air temperature

Hi

You missed my point. In a car sitting in the driveway with the engine
running, or at least hot, the air will absorb the heat from the engine. In
a moving car new outside air (and hopefully cooler air) will flow into the
engine compartment and will not have time to heat up. Of course if all the
air comes through the radiator, then it will be heated by that, but not from
the engine itself.

"The air temp does not change just because you are going faster. Your skin
may feel it because of evaporative cooling effects, but your engine does
not.
What you do have is more mass of air moving over the coils and carrying away
more heat."

"And of course, if I had a Spider with a ratty nose cone, I
might think about Ferrari 250 GTO-style half-moon air ducts, one of
which would line up with the air intake. Yeah, that'd be very trick.
:-)"

In terms of brining in cooler air, perhaps a look at the original Veloce,
when Veloce ment hotter cams, etc. and an air intake hidden in the grill.
Huumm, it also sounds like A.R. Ricambi thought of velocity stacks before I
did. ;-)
