Hi Frank,
Soon after I got my spider 8 years ago, I put 4 little cylindrical foam
filters (available at any motorcycle parts shop) on my car. It was actually
mostly for space/accessability reasons, plus I like the looks better when
the engine doesn't have a lot of stuff hanging off it. Added benefit: the
car sounded cool.
About 4 years ago I found some K&N filters a guy had taken off his Alfetta
for $25. I put these on the car - it definitely breathes a bit easier at the
very top end, plus there's this wonderful intake roar. Combined with the
Ansa tailpipe and the non-existent cat (PO removed it, and I didn't notice
because I always was able to pass smog), it sounds pretty good. Definitely
not a long distance car, though.
I'm under no illusion that this adds much (if anything) to the power, though
- - it's just aesthetics and sound.
