Warm weather start judders

Hi all,

Summer (of sorts) has recently come upon most parts of the UK and now my 145 has
serious problems in getting going from cold.
After firing up the engine and revving up to 2500 RPM for a few seconds, my
attempts at pulling away resemble a new driver coming to terms with
the idea of a clutch. After a few hundred yards the problem disappears and the
engine runs smoothly again.

My amateur guess is that the auto-choke is doing more than it should in the
conditions and giving the engine an over-rich mixture to work on.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Many thanks,

Steve.
