RE: Niki Lauda Parts Update

I don't have any specific info for you on your search, but I do have first
hand knowledge in the Sign / Graphics world.

The 15 inch Gerber EDGE is probably the machine you are talking about.

1. It is a thermal transfer machine so the color gets bonded to the substrate.
2. it can be contour cut with most Gerber cutters
3. Probably the best outdoor durability you will find. It should have a 5
year rating, but will last a long long time if you keep the car in the garage
or covered.
4. It is probably the machine used to produce those really nice full color
photos on vans running around town.

The only drawback is the cost... I would guestimate in the $200 range or
$7-$10 per square foot plus a couple of hours computer time to copy your
sample.

Go to www.gspinc.com to see what Gerber has to say.

If I were you I would use 2 Layers of 2 mil Cast Vinyl. It would be cheaper
and should last longer than any printed / transferred method. The other
option is just having the graphic painted on your car. A mask could be made
from your original and would look the best in the end.
