Cold start and Idle Problems

Over the last couple of days I have developed a cold start and idle
problem on my 88 Spider.

Generally, I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep the car alive until
the temp gauge begins to register.

I haven't had a chance to check the cold start injector yet, but would
this affect the idle problem or is it only activated for the initial
start up?

I was thinking about the temperature sensor - could these by symptoms of
failure?
