i've been using fram filters for almost twenty years now, and have never had
a problem in any application.  hard to argue with success..

however, with all the bad press, i'm starting to investigate alternatives.
i like what i hear about the mobil 1 filter, otherwise i may just end up
using the oem filter.  i'd like to see a study that includes the alfa oem
filter in it (yah right!).  i've seen comparisons that include volvo, mopar,
and ford filters, but nothing on alfa oem.

also, any comment on what might be a suitable replacement for the hp1?
interesting comments about the hp1 and ph8, however i was under the
impression that the canister in the hp1 was built for higher pressures, and
had a no-blowout guarantee.

somebody should conduct an official oil/filter study, and test *everything*
out there.  there's probably funding to be had..
