Fram Oil Filters

This thread is all very interesting and I wonder if I have been making a
serious mistake over the last 25 years or so.

I have used FRAM PH7 filters pretty much exclusively in my GTV6's, Fiat
124's and Spider 2000's with no apparent problems.  My principal reason for
using this filter is that it is a high capacity design which, all other
things being equal, I feel is the right way to go. I have had long life >
100K engines and no oil related problems as far as I know.  I have always
used Mobil 1 in these cars.

I realize that the PH7 is now an obsolete design and is hard to find and it
may also be that over the years they have cheapened the construction - I
just don't know - however I don't use any sleep over having these filters
in my cars.

I have read stories about burst filters but unfortunately there have been
no details of what actually happened. For example was the case dented
during installation? 

Feedback anyone?
