Doh! Sent that reply without adding any text... 

I can't deny that ... my T/A on the '78 was definitely funky, marginal at
best. We got it working pretty well but it would have been better to get
it replaced. It was one of those things on my list that I never got to
before the car was destroyed. 

So it goes. Now I'm dealing with the simplicity of the Bosch L-Jet
setup...  :)
