Alfa 6

Reading Chris Piepers' note about buying an Alfa 6 reminded me of a 2 weeks
active duty I did in Naples, Italy in 1988 in my USNR days. Security was high
near the Support Activity, with a Carabiniere assault vehicle stationed at the
head of the street and shotgun toting marines at all the gates. The Admiral's
official car was a stock looking Alfa 6, but when you looked closer, the glass
was about an inch thick, the sheetmetal was armoured, and the doors had little
round ports in them through which you could shoot at your attacker. More than
likely, the extra weight caused performance to suffer. Wonder how many are on
the market? My other memory was of a junk yard across from the main gate,
filled with Alfas. Pick-a-part heaven!
