Alfa 33 in Virginia, USA

Here's one for the list of "exotic" Alfa Romeos in the US.  I was waiting
at a stop light in Falls Church, Virginia (Washington, DC area) on Saturday
and spotted an Alfa sedan coming toward me.  Seeing another Alfa of any
kind is a rare event, but imagine my surprise when it turned out to be an
early-style 33 (the one with the odd kink in the rear, a bit like a small
75).  

For those in other countries, although the 33 is one of the most common of
recent Alfas in many places, it was never sold as a new car in the US and
our restrictive regulations make it unlikely that anyone would import one
parmanently.  This 33 had diplomatic license plates and presumably belonged
to someone living in Washington on a temporary assignment.
