115 GTV: crack in bell housing at starter motor mount

i'm considering what will be involved in putting my 1973 GTV back into
regular usage, after sitting for a few years.

when it was parked, the RR axle seal was starting to leak; i know that this
is an ugly labor intensive job best farmed out to an alfa mechanic with the
tools and some experience with the job.

the other matter is that the bell housing damaged where the center bolt for
the starter mount goes through. the mechanic who assembled this part of the
car back before i owned it used the wrong bolt, which left enough flex and
looseness that eventually a chunk of aluminum broke off the bell housing,
leaving it impossible to center the starter properly.

i suspect that the bell housing will need to be removed to be repaired
and/or replaced, but i'm mentioning it here on the off chance that one of
the experienced members of the list might know if any repair can be done
with less labor involved.

thanks,
   richard
