"balance" tube on Webers?

On many [all?] of the 105 dual Weber setups, there is a small tube running
from a fitting on the #1 cylinder intake port to the blowby pipe as it goes
into the top of the airbox.  What is the purpose of that tube?  Does it
cause the #1 cylinder to have a different mixture from the other cylinders?
