Don't short change those driveshaft couplings.  Remember the Ford GT40
used them in the drive axles, even in big block form and lets face it a
full race 427cid will make a lot more torque then even a very modified
streetable 3.0L.  coupling life will probably be shortened but if you
aren't into spinning the wheels on launch they will last longer then the
kids that side the clutch every time.  Besides couplings aren't hard to
replace, even eraser if you run dual exhaust spaced so the driveshaft
will fit between them.

Speaking of driveshafts,  swivel joints stabilize the front and center
couplings.  The front is about 30mm long and spring loaded.  they can
break, rust solid and ware.  The centers rust and ware.  both cause
vibration that is hard to pinpoint,   so while replacing those couplings
examine and grease them.
